Primarily responsible for implementing tree and forest inventory aspects of municipal forest resource management plans to preserve and protect the city’s urban and rural forest cover. The incumbent conducts planned inspections and tree inventory data collection to determine overall forest health and uses GIS technology to monitor and track planned maintenance, the presence of disease, insect infestations, and invasive plant species, as part of the city’s Tree Inventory and Asset Management program. The incumbent reviews and comments on various plans, and provides effective recommendations to minimize the impact of development on forest cover through modeling and analysis of existing and future forest inventories. The incumbent supervises consulting and contracted services, leads teams of forestry employees, co-op or summer students and volunteers on a project basis, and contributes to ongoing service delivery and service improvement initiatives in the branch.
